you could use an evolutionary triangulation or vectorization as well. This way you can define the visibility and number of triangles.

Tip number 1. Make all your points for the triangulation before you actually use the script, When you're done, select all your points and 'triangulate from selection' or whatever it is.
It is a memory hog as it calculates nearest neighbour from each node, and recalculates all of those gradients every time you click, even if they don't change. it's a great script but not the most efficient. I suspect Puckey's is nicer.
