Brogues just look far to fussy and fancy pants (UK English use of the work 'pants' there).
The perforations in the leather just looks ripe for mud and street gunk to get stuck in there.
In terms of design - it's decoration, not functional and beautiful design. My UK 10 pence.

If I was going to wear them, I'd go for a classic style rather than the big chunky style brogue that seems to be popular in London at the moment.
