Pearl Jam is one of those very popular band that have survives the 90's and are still rocking with a large fan base. Iam not really into "popular" bands anymore, but I must admit Eddie Vedder has one of the most amazing voice out there.
That video of Black is a classic and lesson of performance to every singers.

I saw them warm up for The Rolling Stones once. It was an outdoor concert in a driving rain, and Pearl Jam got totally drenched. They were honestly wearing raincoats. But before The Stones came out, a huge roof magically appeared over the stage. So The Stones stayed nice and dry and toasty.
I thought it was great way for Mick and company to treat the wee underlings.

I saw them in 09 during the Backspacer tour. I usually don't go to huge concerts anymore and this was the first time I saw them since the second Lollapalooza in '92.
I said I would only go if we had good seats in the amphitheater, not in the lawn section. We ended up getting the very last row, we might as well have been in the lawn.
I'm not a huge fan but I do think they have a huge catalog of great music, TEN being their first and worst.
The show wasn't great but it wasn't horrible. I could have done without the 15 minute drum solo using glow sticks and the Star Spangled Banner guitar solo.
I would only go to see them again if I had really great seats and if they brought Robert Pollard back to sing Baba O'Riley with them every night.

Fell in love with PJ when I saw the Do The Evolution music video. Fuck. Me. That video is still the best. Their album Vitalogy helped me through my teens.

I hate to say this but I kind of think Pearl Jam and Eddie Veddie are well, kind of overrated? Both live and recorded. Some great stuff to be sure, but legendary? I don't know.
I saw them in concert once. I was standing for 2-3 hours trying to get a glimpse of a video monitor so I could see the band. That was hard. I also never heard Eddie Vedder sing - I heard the audience sing. Now while I thought that was kind of interesting, I went there to hear and see the band, and really had neither experience.
