Me too. I went to the Chicago store today to try and get lucky and get a $1K shopping spree. No dice. Great new gear and outerwear. I'm picking up a 150mm Nug to ride this season.

Not overly impressed with the boards designs this year
in fact think they've got worse and worse over last few seasons- saying that.... i tested a new board a few weeks ago and still one of the best performance boardsWeLoveNoise

Funny enough I think the board graphics are better than last year.
I love this one, no matter how depressing:
http://www.burton.com/mens-board…- lol looks like an anti-child abuse campaign!!WeLoveNoise
- this is my board (before it got dropped to 350 dammit) http://www.snowboard…WeLoveNoise

i have to agree about the board designs, i'm only feeling a few of them this season. the standard shaun white is horrific for instance imo, but i love the restricted mr nice guy...
bad:
cool:
as opposed to the last few seasons when the designs were a little more unique to each board if that makes any sense. i've got the '08 vapor, love the deck love the design.
- Agreed.. I've got the 08 Vapor as well.. it's a dream to ride.Naygon

Lib Tech Snowboards are the future
http://www.lib-tech.com/- but this is prob biased cos i know they are just awesome rides. blinded by the performance of the boardWeLoveNoise
- i love libs. one of my first bpards was a litigator skeleton. i still have my cummins... great recent tech as well.prophetone
- i would looove to get that 180w skunk ape. I'm a big guy and that board would charge the hill like crazy.prophetone

Any of you that ride Burton gear catch flack from friends that don't? I have a couple friends like that and i just don't get it. Burton sink so much money into R&D and no doubt progressed a ton of the snowboard industry.
I'm into them because of the community they have here in Chicago. Wonderful people at the store, they are often on the bus trips I take to Wisconsin to ride, and they sponsor some of them as well.
I just don't get the hate sometimes. If I were a shitty rider or something and riding all this expensive stuff, yeah, I'd get it. But the fact that I can go into their store, try anything on, ask questions in person, etc. has a lot to do with riding their gear.
- are they opposed to burton like an apple-hater? or do they think the tech is crap in general?prophetone
- like apple hate. anyone denying the tech is good is an idiot.mg33
- either way i wouldn't sweat it, burton has big r&d and so do the others, they're all making $$$ in the endprophetone
- if they think they're cool ask em why they aren't making their own custom boards, now that's real coreprophetone
- act like ya know suckasprophetone
- burton is a magnet tho for newbs with $$$ who spend $2k on gear for their first day which = hater baitprophetone
- LOL - worse mistake i ever made was adopting the burton step-in system bout 4yrs ago. #shitWeLoveNoise
- why would you go near step ins in the first place!? terrible idea other than for rentals boards.prophetone
- when i first started and wanted to explore everything outt here. they weren't actually that bad but as i good better they got shitterWeLoveNoise
- .......shitterWeLoveNoise
- yes def good for beginners i agree, i can totally see how they would seem more terrible over time thoprophetone
- i couldn't imagine not having the 'feeling' of traditional strap-ins. u could pull some sweet damian sanders moves.prophetone
- damian wore one hard boot clicked in and one soft boot in a bindings for those who don't knowprophetone
- yeah thats why i had to change. more flexibility and control with the board. happy with my bateleon now :)WeLoveNoise
- really lol - crazy idea. what was his logic behind that ?WeLoveNoise
- it was ridiculous even then, in the mid 90's, when his blond mohawk raged the hills in all its glory. lolprophetone
- like, I know people who think that the channel system is a gimmick. bullshit! it's a BREEZE to adjust on the hill.mg33
- yeah i think the channel is great and provides crazy flexibility, not sure how it can be considered a gimmickprophetone
- i can mount est, 4x4 and 3d style bindings so it's a win imo. and i think the 3d pattern is about to available toprophetone
- all companies soon i heard as the patent is almost up... so i believe big b will be channeling almost everythingprophetone
- which appears to be what they're doing... 3d is basically reserved for the mid to low end decks nowprophetone
- in the end, and back to the post, gear is so dialed now it's all personal prefs, so tell the h8rz to chill outprophetone

My first few boards were Burtons going back to the Free5 in the early 90's. I think back then they were pretty much your only choice for quality boards. Now a days a lot of smaller board companies make just as good of product without being "run of the mill".
My last 2 boards were an Arbor and now a Nitro.
I certainly don't hate Burton ( I actually have a B hat on right now) and they're still a "private" company and everyone I've ever know that has met Jake says he's a real cool guy but with all the other options out there I'm not sure I'll ever buy another Burton board until I can afford a Vapor.- the vapor is a work of art imo. great tech and screaming fast. love it. stay away from rails tho!prophetone
- check ebay and find yourself an 08 (like above) or an 09 futura vapor... i've seen em go for reasonable $prophetone

are any qbn'ers on the burton community per chance? a few years back i was a regular on the bmb which transformed into the kontain-based community. haven't logged it for a wee bit tho.

Always had Stepchild and Lib boards. Burton and Nike stuff i just dont support, leave a bad taste for me. I'm sure the boards ride as good as any.
