Any of you that ride Burton gear catch flack from friends that don't? I have a couple friends like that and i just don't get it. Burton sink so much money into R&D and no doubt progressed a ton of the snowboard industry.

I'm into them because of the community they have here in Chicago. Wonderful people at the store, they are often on the bus trips I take to Wisconsin to ride, and they sponsor some of them as well.

I just don't get the hate sometimes. If I were a shitty rider or something and riding all this expensive stuff, yeah, I'd get it. But the fact that I can go into their store, try anything on, ask questions in person, etc. has a lot to do with riding their gear.

    • are they opposed to burton like an apple-hater? or do they think the tech is crap in general?prophetone
    • like apple hate. anyone denying the tech is good is an idiot.mg33
    • either way i wouldn't sweat it, burton has big r&d and so do the others, they're all making $$$ in the endprophetone
    • if they think they're cool ask em why they aren't making their own custom boards, now that's real coreprophetone
    • act like ya know suckasprophetone
    • burton is a magnet tho for newbs with $$$ who spend $2k on gear for their first day which = hater baitprophetone
    • LOL - worse mistake i ever made was adopting the burton step-in system bout 4yrs ago. #shitWeLoveNoise
    • why would you go near step ins in the first place!? terrible idea other than for rentals boards.prophetone
    • when i first started and wanted to explore everything outt here. they weren't actually that bad but as i good better they got shitterWeLoveNoise
    • .......shitterWeLoveNoise
    • yes def good for beginners i agree, i can totally see how they would seem more terrible over time thoprophetone
    • i couldn't imagine not having the 'feeling' of traditional strap-ins. u could pull some sweet damian sanders moves.prophetone
    • damian wore one hard boot clicked in and one soft boot in a bindings for those who don't knowprophetone
    • yeah thats why i had to change. more flexibility and control with the board. happy with my bateleon now :)WeLoveNoise
    • really lol - crazy idea. what was his logic behind that ?WeLoveNoise
    • it was ridiculous even then, in the mid 90's, when his blond mohawk raged the hills in all its glory. lolprophetone
    • like, I know people who think that the channel system is a gimmick. bullshit! it's a BREEZE to adjust on the hill.mg33
    • yeah i think the channel is great and provides crazy flexibility, not sure how it can be considered a gimmickprophetone
    • i can mount est, 4x4 and 3d style bindings so it's a win imo. and i think the 3d pattern is about to available toprophetone
    • all companies soon i heard as the patent is almost up... so i believe big b will be channeling almost everythingprophetone
    • which appears to be what they're doing... 3d is basically reserved for the mid to low end decks nowprophetone
    • in the end, and back to the post, gear is so dialed now it's all personal prefs, so tell the h8rz to chill outprophetone
