that's a really good idea!

The address bar pops up when you click the tab and when content is loading, the rest of the time it's hidden.
To enable, download the latest beta of chrome, type "about:flags" into the address bar and enable "compact navigation".
Now restart chrome, right click on a tab and click "hide the toolbar".
Takes some getting used to, not just clicking in the address bar but I've got used to it over the course of the day. Looks much tidier.

In which channel is this? beta channel?

Only problem I've noticed is, they haven't implemented any way to access extension icons in this mode. You have to enable the address bar as usual to see them

It's a phishing site's dream come true!

^^^
soooooo true

Sorry, didn't realize it was windows only.
Phishing sites dream come true? It still states the site address when a page is loading and the usual popup status bar appears while a site is loading too...
- What if you (or your mail client) has opened it as a background tab? It won't be showing by the time you get to view the page.Nathan_Adams

what's great about that? didnt need its own thread

I've been after this for a while. Without this thread I wouldn't have found out until it went out of beta. Now if only they'd do some sort of full-screen experience with a top-hover address bar dock.
- I've just found out Firefox does full screen without Lion.Raniator
- Wait, Chrome does as well?Raniator
- I don't use Mac, F11 has always Full screened an application on Windows.orrinward
- So I wouldn't know.orrinward
- Oh yeah, duh. Good point. I'm slow today :)Raniator
- chrome full screen on windows hides the tab and url barregiste

Yeah because screens are so small these days that we need to hide things that take up all of 25px
- I prefer a cleaner screen. Not for saving space really. Also, colleagues work on Netbooks so the 25px can actually be nice.orrinward
