Going to LA next week - have an award thing at the whisky-a-go go one night. Any suggestions on a good hotel to stay at (reasonable but cool)?

The Avalon on S. Beverly Drive is rad. Great dinner, poolside lounging, cougars, etc. And the Hilton Downtown is nice. I like their beds.

1. The Redbury @ Hollywood and Vine
Trendy, hip, and right in the heart of Hollywood
2. The Roosevelt @ Hollywood and Labrea - can't go wrong with the pool scene on weekends

Only ever stayed at the Hollywood Roosevelt... loved it, great pool-side bar. But that was a couple of years ago. It wasn't mega $$$ either.

I'm going to go ahead and suggest something different.
I stay in hotels in LA fairly often when I'm there for work, and in order to make money I need to watch where I stay, no shame in that.I have stayed at both standards and a couple more that are indeed nice, but lately I've been going here:
Kyoto Grand Hotel
It's in my opinion, on one of the most interesting areas in LA, you will be near the best and more authentic sushi/ ramen places in the west coast (with the exception of japan town in SF).
It's a quiet nice little area, for walking around and taking interesting photos too, and you can find rooms there for under $200 bucks.
