Forget recruiters, go to agencies directly if possible. http://AustralianInfront.com.au is a great starting point though. I'm here well over 2 years, it's been a great move.
We're hiring AD's and junior creatives at the mo. Folio?

Ok, so dunno if you're heading to Melbourne or Sydney or what, but from my experience in Sydney these are by far the best creative recruiters... +1 for Beetroot Consulting.

Plenty of jobs advertised including a Senior Design role (potentially Creative Director) role advertised this morning. $90k which is very comfortable for Melbourne.

Industry wages and charge rates in Brisbane are way lower than Sydney or Melbourne.

Freelancers in Sydney can earn great $$. Just don't live in the Eastern Surburbs as it would almost equal the likes of London or New York in terms of living costs...

i moved away from australia to work..
there is work, but its somewhat expensive to live there.. and you will spend most of the time earning just to survive..unless you get some crazy ass job.. then you are ok.
move to melbourne tho.
