Either myself or my dad (also a graphic designer) will be doing my brothers wedding invites this year so been hunting around too.
Theres a few good old threads on here.
Google brings up pishhhhh!- Your dads a graphic designer, awesome. My granddad did photo retouching by hand for a newspaperset

What's a ‘mean’ budget for half-decent wedding invites?
^
stupid question- printing and paper alone can range from $500 and up depending on quantity and printing type.capn_ron
- offset, 2 colors with good paper is at least $500. now, letterpress on good paper starts at upwards of $1500capn_ron
- I managed to get x100 offset 4-colour for just over £100. Really difficult gettign a decent budget out of friendsFax_Benson
- well, my friends anyway.Fax_Benson
- Thanks, I've always assumed a bit of a premium.. but have found people being surprised at the price of laser-cutting optionsdetritus
- ..even though I offer competitive rates and even lowballed a couple, just to see what happened.detritus

Don't hire your friend for designing wedding invites. She will hate them forever. Fire them and tell you to do it.

Got my invites, which I designed, letterpressed a few months back (wedding is in two weeks!). We had printed a total of 220 invites (5x7) + 220 RSVP cards (1.5x3), 2 color, on Crane's Lettra pearl white to the tune of $1200.
Itinerary we printed (color laser) on vellum (also 5x7) and notched it to hold the RSVP card.
RSVP was all done online (saved a ton of postage) using a little web application I built for the occasion.

I did a recent set that included a 5x5" folded invite (4 pages, basically), rsvp card and thank you card; each piece was two-color letterpress (two-sided) and it was about $2,000. Stock: Somerset Natural.

ReichPaper have this line called Savoy. I've used it on several pieces from engravings to letterpress and personally I think it is nicer than Cranes Lettra. It's also cheaper too!
