went there a while ago. its a gorgeous little place. in terms of stuff to do...there isnt a huge amount, its quite a chilled place.
see the crazy churches and cathedrals,
One must go place is 'the church of our lady', a huge church, which has Michelangelo's Madonna and Child. Im not a fan of
statues, but that michelangelo one, was just creepy real.visit the church of the holy blood, where you can see a vial, said to contain jesus' blood.
go up the belfry for a nice view.
have a nice boat tour around the canal.
There is the lace museum if your interested. you can see these old ladies making things and their hand speed and technique (behave qbners) is phenomenal, its clear they have spent their life doing just that.Take a camera, its a lovely place. and eat lots of waffles!

I think of it as a noisy place. On our way back driving from Amsterdam, my mates and I stopped in there. Tried to find a less touristy place than the ones on the square, so did... and as we took our first sips of that oh so sweet Belgian nectar, a guy 2m round the corner fired up his jackhammer and didn't stop till we left!
- "Fired up his jackhammer".... and only 2m away. That's disgusting.aanderton

Beautiful town. One day there is probably enough though. Maybe 2 days/1 night.
I also recommend Gent (Ghent). Less touristy, similar architecture/feel, more happening (especially during Gentse Feesten).

I'm trying to go again soon (live in Netherlands). It's a nice lovely place. Maybe go on a weekday so you don't get a lot of tourists and you have a little more quiet. Overall a cool place to walk around for half a day :)

I would recommend not to miss Ghent...

the bar to hit is 't Brugs Beertje
300 kinds of beer, old skool interior and regularsbut people are right - 1 day is enough for sightseeing, the rest of the time should be spent in 't Brugs Beertje drinking your way through their catalogue
hire bikes and tool around that way. forget the boat - tourist rip off
