I'm thinking this is the English language version, as opposed to the Danish? Different cast... web site just flips me to Sony... although in another curious twist, they're reprising "Straw Dogs"? Hmmm... I don't think you touch the original, sorry.

Reading the synopsis, it looks too plot heavy to be done well in 2 hours.
- read all of the books - very heavy lifting, but def in the thriller corner - not sure how it translates to filmadumbratesly
- I trust Fincher, hope it turns out to be something watchable at the very least.spookykat

Mmm, on second thought its directed by David Fincher and his work is never uninteresting. Hes also collaborating with Reznor again.

Trent Reznor with Karen O - Immigrant Song (Led Zeppelin cover)
..suits well in this!

This is one of those rare cases where I think the Yank remake will be better than the original.

They just released the 2009 version here in North America not that long ago. Just seems like a lot of confusion on the consumer's part.

Dracula, Jekyll & Hyde, Oliver Twist, Pride & Prejudice, all these books have been filmed a lot, back in the day, and still are. No one gave a shit about it then. I don't know why people are getting in such a tizzy about another film based on a book. I'm reading the books the now, not bad. I watched the first Swedish film and to be honest it was pretty shite. I could understand it if they were remaking a classic like Godfather, but they Swedish films were a snore. Probably didn't help that they were cut to fuck for release over here. Hoping Fincher will do something really interesting with this, as long as he avoids the "crushed blacks" ... I'll be happy!

So the new Fincher version w/ Daniel Craig should be good.
But the original Danish version was bad.
Is this the general consensus?
- The original version was pretty good. And you know what you can do with that Danish.left_right_out
- That's racist! ;)Peter
