Any suggestions on good OSX software for ripping records to MP3?
So far I've tried:
Audacity - too many steps, no track lookup.
Spin it Again (PC only) - this has been my favorite but no mac.

i use sound studio

(looks a but more fancy than v3 which I use)
It's easy to use and really powerful at the same time- with really simple and easy to use step by step guide with photos. http://localhostr.co…e-pill

Nice - does Sound Studio have auto track/ album info lookup?

unless you have super rare hard to find vinyl couldn't you just torrent search the records you have.
I'm not sure I'd want the fireplace snap crackle pop's when listening to my ipod.

i always loved how sub pop vinyl comes with an mp3 download code for the album. probably the only way i'd pay for non-live music these days.

Don't get me wrong, I love vinyl. I just got my Marantz 6300 back from the shop 2 days ago. It was getting both the RCA cords replaced. It's not the best sounding record player out there but it looks great. I wouldn't want to hear all the humming and crackles when I'm not sitting in front of it, in my lounge chair with a nice beverage and smoke in hand.
Last night I was listening to my parents hand me downs, Janis Joplin, Simon and Garfunkel, Pink Floyd and I only buy newer vinyl that I know is solid front start to finish like Appetite for Destruction, Husker Du New Day Rising, PJ Vitology, Sunny Day Real estate, White Stripes... things I already own on tape and CD and have ripped MP3 from digital sources or downloaded already and love so much I'd want to hear it while relaxing at home.

- though recording an lp is slow compared to ripping a cd, i will admit that...hans_glib
- lol and it forces you to listen to the music. what the fuck is up with that?!mcmillions

my advice, just google the tracks in mp3 form..
someone somewhere would have already done it..- ooops, yep, what fooler said already (my bad)autoflavour

must say i don't understand why auto track lookup is necessary—if you're ripping the vinyl, there's a good chance you haven't found it as mp3 (and/or it's possibly not on cd), meaning there wouldn't be track information online.
<- confused
i've been using adobe soundbooth more recently for any vinyl/cassette rips, tagging everything myself. not difficult.- wait that's a lie, i use some audio recording software specific to my usb turntable, but i still edit in soundbooth.mcmillions
