Don't get me wrong, I love vinyl. I just got my Marantz 6300 back from the shop 2 days ago. It was getting both the RCA cords replaced. It's not the best sounding record player out there but it looks great. I wouldn't want to hear all the humming and crackles when I'm not sitting in front of it, in my lounge chair with a nice beverage and smoke in hand.
Last night I was listening to my parents hand me downs, Janis Joplin, Simon and Garfunkel, Pink Floyd and I only buy newer vinyl that I know is solid front start to finish like Appetite for Destruction, Husker Du New Day Rising, PJ Vitology, Sunny Day Real estate, White Stripes... things I already own on tape and CD and have ripped MP3 from digital sources or downloaded already and love so much I'd want to hear it while relaxing at home.
