Help me out, what am I looking at here?
- Raniator0
I don't like the 'l' and the device just doesn't suit the wordmark. What is it supposed to be? What is is for?
- benfal990
choose another font, really... it look like 1,000 other different logos.
- ukit0
It's actually not all that derivative, but on the downside it completely fails to communicate anything or work as a logo.

The typeface is a bit shit. Not sure what the symbol is. Makes me think of wailing child teefs.

hand draw the type so that it feels more like the mark
- monospaced0
also, I see piano keys and a button
- bingo!trooperbill
- what piano is off a circle? pianos are very angular and square not round and circular..epill
- you should play off of that.. make that logo look like something from where it came..epill
- it looks like a cat or dog's paw print drawn by a kid.. are young kids the target demographic??epill
- I mean, it is simultaneously like a piano and a button (circle)monospaced

The kerning is a bit wide, no?

so many wrongs in one image. type is awful. letters not aligned properly, looks like they're about to fall apart. also, this typography doesn't allow a 'hand drawn' symbol.
overall, it made me vomit a little in my neighbour's mouth. he's all pissed now.
- < not helpfulmonospaced
- i agree with what you said about hand drawing the type. i think he has to choose between a compete hand drawn logo or not. more helfpul?changecase

To criticize a logo must have a logo. That is, with all the respect and affection "crap". Back to the board.
Some keys seem a elephant legs to form a tooth face down with little room for criticism. The attempt to make some letters -not a typo, or nothing about kerning- with a piece of spaghetti, better not say anything. All along, I think will explode my head.

Why make such a crude hand-drawn logo, then font up the word mark in such a way that it's similar but has none of those properties? Either write out the name too, or get away from the thick black lines entirely and go with something distinct.

the icon looks like a small sandwich roll

the logo shows piano keys as mentioned above.. but, what piano is used off a circle? pianos are very angular and square, not round and circular..you should play off of that.. make that logo look like something from where it came..it looks like a cat or dog's paw print drawn by a kid.. are young kids the target demographic?? the spacing between the letters are very wide, perhaps if you are going to do that, then raise up and down the letters, to perhaps match an equaalizer or the way sound or musical notes appear on a music sheet.. the spacing that i see with the use of the "paw print" image, is too young an audience, but i feel that perhaps the real audience is of the adult style.. so there is much work to be done.. perhaps, use the name of the logo itself and "PLAY" around with some crazier ideas, because if your target audience is older than pre-teen. you will need to make something stronger that the adult can identify with closer. also the "dec" in decplay.. i think of some hardcore ssynth deck with nobs and buttons and sliders and volume.. huge and sturdy.. an equalizer... logo.. hmmm thats something i can relate too.. but thats just one idea..
- you've obviously never played on this one: http://1.bp.blogspot…bjladams
- well now.. if that is how the lessons are given then FUCK YEH!! logo is PERFECT!!!epill
- ummm...pianos are VERY curvy dude, where have you been?monospaced

in fact don't tell us what it means. Make another one that will make us figure it out instantly.
- trooperbill0
ok - the system used to learn the piano is not note based so having the traditional lines and notaation symbols wouldnt be appropriate here.
plus the client wanted a round edged font with a hand drawn glyph
thx for the burn lolz

"plus the client wanted a round edged font with a hand drawn glyph"
Are you suggesting your logo is the only possible combination of those elements? Because it isn't.
- BuddhaHat0
When I first looked at the drawing on the left, I thought of a 2-slice toaster, drawn by a child. Just sayin'.
- and i'm getting the 'not helpful' from monospacedchangecase
- don't whinemonospaced
- yep, I also saw a toasterpressplay
- maikel0
...honestly mate, try a bit harder.
anyway, you had some good tips up there.
- hardly no one saw the keyboard.
- the font needs kerning, aligning, tweaking, or being something else.
- the logo and the type do not match.I think that gives you food for thoughts.
Post a 2nd iteration when ready.//btw, it's great that from time to time people make the qbn to be a design related forum again
- The logo and type are too similar in weight, I'd say.i_monk
