How in the hell do I even view these without buying a 80 dollar plugin for quicktime?
works when I downloaded Calibrated {Q} plugin, but it has a watermark...Is there any other way to view and/or convert these?
anyone?

I was having this same problem not too long ago, and I ended up having to buy that plug in you are talking about.
I would share it with you, but the number is only good on a single computer and has to be activated online. I was pissed of that it was so expensive, only so I can watch 2 20 second clips and never to be used again. It's a rip off, no matter what you do, don't support those people.I understand that there is some sort of sony software that is free to install, (comes as part of the camera used to shoot those clips you are trying to view) and once you install it, it will install that codec and qt will be able to view these.
This whole thing with quicktime is a freakin joke, reminds me of the days working on windows 95 and having to download all sort of drivers for anything to work.

Damn, actually, I had this problem once... its like some shitty mini disc video camera or something, right? Anyways, I took me hours but I totally found a way to do it, only problem is I can't remember/was on a different computer, so I don't have the files to check out... But, it involved downloading some sort of free program for exporting that, when you installed it gave you a link for the plug-in you need. It was kind of a shady thing, like it said, "we don't condone stealing, but copy-paste this link." Sorry I can't remember more, but the solution is out there...

now sure if it works but you can try MPEG streamclip. maybe it can convert it.

tried it...there seems to be no solution other than buying the damn plugin

The clips should play on a computer with Final Cut Pro installed, if that helps at all...
