    I was having this same problem not too long ago, and I ended up having to buy that plug in you are talking about.
    I would share it with you, but the number is only good on a single computer and has to be activated online. I was pissed of that it was so expensive, only so I can watch 2 20 second clips and never to be used again. It's a rip off, no matter what you do, don't support those people.

    I understand that there is some sort of sony software that is free to install, (comes as part of the camera used to shoot those clips you are trying to view) and once you install it, it will install that codec and qt will be able to view these.

    This whole thing with quicktime is a freakin joke, reminds me of the days working on windows 95 and having to download all sort of drivers for anything to work.
