Howdy, first time posting here.
Has anyone ever thought about moving away from it all, maybe move to New Zealand, live by the beach and make art? I'm 28, don't like my job very much and spend a lot on rent, maybe that might be better? Find a low key job and get by?
Has anyone done a thing like that?

I've definitely thought about it. If I had the finances to do it in 2006 I would have moved to right outside of Tokyo.

i'm also 28 - from new zealand. lived on the beach. i moved away from there 6 years ago and now live in knoxville tennessee. it is beautiful there, but people are people the world over. you'll find that locals in new zealand talk about getting away from it all too.
i do miss home sometimes. a move can be a nice shake up.
- people are people the world over, thats so true. There's nowhere to get away from it all - you take it all with you.mikotondria3

if you do go to nz, check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wai…
it's only a 45 min ferry ride from auckland, so you're close enough if you want the city life but far enough away to feel isolated. i lived there for a bit during college. lots of tourists during the weekend, but calm the rest of the week.

the problem i see when i hear this is that this type of people(oldest sister) probably will say the saame thing about the beach they escaped to. before you make any harsh decisions... check yo'self fool

If you want to get away from it all, move to the bottom of the ocean.

I would go to Dominican Republic or somewhere where it's tourism but exotic... open a small bar on the ocean and spend whole days catching sun and do cocktails and shit after like 4pm.
No internets, no worries about money.. just make enough to pay for food and sleep.. and live it up.
That's what I would do if I would to just drop everything and start over.
Btw, I did start over.. I dropped everything in Serbia, left my family, my girlfriend, my business and moved to Arizona alone to the other side of the world.
What a fucking ride for better or worse :). If you are intending to try to move so you can start over in a sense of career and shit, that takes a much bigger toll on your psyche and it's not as easy as just dropping shit and chilling until the rest of your life.
- Where the fuck would you plug your 7 xboxes in the jungle, I heard they don't have interwebernexbcn

I moved from Toronto, Ontario to Creemore, Ontario which is a village of 1300 people to star an art & design shop (of sorts) @ coloveration.com.

Any answers to ukit's question (What countries can you easily immigrate to without having to land a job and all that other hard stuff?)?
I say NZ, but am looking at other places. Also glad to read I'm not crazy.

Also, I'd do this alone, which is another thing.

And I only speak English.

I used to live and work in the city (albeit not a very large one, Perth, Western Australia) and it started to get to me big time. One night two meth addicts dumped a stolen car on my lawn at 1am and spent an hour buffing the inside of the car for prints using the water from my srinklers and the shirts off their backs. Cops just would not come out to arrest them. Last straw.
So I sold my house and quit my corporate job and moved out into the Swan Valley (wine making region) and now work by the coast for a small agency.
The commutes a little longer but when I'm at home I'm so happy and I also love working by the coast. Never felt so good.

dont come here bro. Fuck all happens. You earn so little money that you cant do all the wonderous things everyone thinks kiwis do. The house prices are the most expensive in the world. I'd go to australia. Like most kiwis end up doing cos NZ looks pretty and is forward in a lot of ways. But it's hard work.
