At night, ...well is Madrid. Chueca is a district with restaurants, bars and pavement cafes with a very lively atmosphere in the center of Madrid. Until a few years ago it was not a recommendable area to visit, but in the early 90's the homosexual community established itself there and began rehabilitating houses and opening businesses, turning it into the gay Area of Madrid.
Its centre is Plaza de Chueca. Its gay and lesbian pride festivals, held at the end of June, are famous.
Malasaña, It is the "alternative" area of the city, with rock concerts and affordable prices. And when the sun rises, is better a pair of sunglasses with a beer in La Plaza de la Paja, or any bar in La Latina, a neighbourhood in the very city centre...

A great Madrid trip is to take the train out to Toldeo! ;)

my first tip of Madrid is not to tip ...
DO check out the flamenco out at Cardamomo ... awesome dark intimate atmosphere ....
it's worth taking some day trips from Madrid to Segovia and Toledo.
If the menu is in English or has pictures don't eat there ... when it comes to food stick with the Lonely Planet recommendations. And if you decide to go to Italy .. skip it and continue on to Greece.
