I found it soooo much better to create a gradient in FreeHand, none of this gradient swatch stuff, chose your colors and adjust on the fly....sweet!

inkscape.

I would be happy if AI would just adopt FH features like multiple pages that doesn't suck, or path drawing without having to change the tools every friggin time I want to drag a handle, or convert smooth points to sharp ones without losing handles, and 3 kinds of points, or A FUCKING PATH PREVIEW, how difficult is that to implement? But Adobe thinks it makes no sense to how your path is going to look before you guess and have to redo the whole thing because pros have time for stuff like that, so they can spend more hours on the job and charge more

in freehand you could place multiple files, win!
- prophetone0
didn't FH support multiple pages as well?
- so does Illustratormonospaced
- but at the time it didn't... it required some fancy add-onprophetone
- Freehand did it about 10 years ago thoughanimatedgif

The only thing I miss from Freehand was the anti-alias modes that made vectors look much cleaner than Illustrator... what were some features that you miss from Freehand that Illustrator doesn't do? I for one don't miss running Rosetta to use it...
- I found - at the time, anyway - FH just ran infinitely faster than AI did, even back in the day.Continuity

Well, if they succeed, then good. I rather quite liked Freehand. I've learnt to make peace with Illustrator, though.
- I'll tell you what I hate, though: Lotus-fucking-Notes for OS X. What a fucking abortion of an email client.Continuity
- Lotus, torturing people on behalf of project managers since 2001jimbojones
- lol @ using lotus notes in 2011.dMullins

Is it a monopoly if it's the only one people bother to torrent?

TL:DR; freehand users are still butthurt 10 years later

1. Design lightning fast vector app similar to freehand.
2. Promote via every design blog you can.
3. Sell Cheap
4. ??????
5. Sell company to highest bidder (Adobe or Quark?)
6. ???
7. Laugh as you swim in money

Hey why not? It sucks when companies buy other products just to kill them off.
- monospaced0
Their main goal is for this to happen:
"The current owner [Adobe] agrees to release FreeHand code and licensing to the opensource community for maintenance and further development for an agreed-upon price."
- monospaced0
hey jimbojones, you read it wrong, Freehand isn't suing adobe...these are lawyers who represent users who are mourning Freehand under the guise of FreeFreeHand. Yeah, good luck with that...

my point is: you need a king, but not a bad king - the king must be good, like, a nice fellow, who is hanging around with his subjects, having a beer with them once in a while, knowing their problems and stuff, doing the right things...
- jimbojones0
wat
without competition adobe would simply praise any little feature as something you totally need, cut the support of older versions and endlessly overcharge for their bug-infested bloatware. oh, wait
- pressplay0
call me naive, but: I am totally ok that there is a standard within the industry to use adobe products (illustrator, indesign, photoshop). Given the problems with compatibility even WITHIN the adobe suite, just imagine what it would be like if anyone could choose between three or four different competitors...

I say bring back Macromedia
- *pounds fist on tableukit
- Yah, bring back marginal software updates in a company with no vision. *rabblerabblerabble*dMullins
- Macromedia introduced Flash to the market. I'd say they have vision.ukit
- Macromedia acquired it from FutureWave Software, they changed the name from FutureSplash to Flash.Kaleb242
- Yeah but what did it look like back then? Pretty basicukit
- ukit0
The fact that you can't even think of the names of the others kind of says it all, doesn't it?

- They do have competition: CorelDraw and Canvas are a couple, but who uses those instead of Illustrator or Flash?Kaleb242
