- hipsters man, this video is spot on, there's a dj here in SD that hijacked dubstep that looks just like the guy in yellow hatMiguex
- i wanna hear romanian throat singing dubscarabin
- i know who you are talking about Miguex! i know exactly.capn_ron
- doesn't he look exactly the same? hahahahaMiguex
- Exactly! it's kinda spooky.capn_ron
- ...TL74LEO
- how does one hijack dubstep exactly?logi
- puts it in a bag while no one is looking, and runs away with itMiguex

so can anyone help me out here? I think dubstep is still good and fun to dance to. Yes, there are lots of terrible dj's out there, but there are lots or terrible rock bands and lots of terrible r&b singers. So can someone give me some info on good dubstep djs that were out before "america ruined it". I haven't read anything but how it sucks. Tell me what was good and when.

what the hell is dubsteb?

I think people saying that america ruined dubstep, are just repeating without really knowing. America did not ruined dubstep, brostep did, and guess what... the main guy behind it is not from the u.s.
- haha, brilliant.
that's exactly it.
I love the dub and the step - not the facefuck hardcore.detritus - Correct. This guy is doing tracks for Britney Spears and shitHijoDMaite
- haha, brilliant.

i don't see anything wrong with facefuck hardcore. gimme grimy beats and face-melting drops. if i wanted to relax i'd listen to portishead.
music is always changing and evolving and the extremes will always be explored. this doesn't "kill" a genre, it establishes a more complete language.
- don't bother, it takes a weak sad man to judge the personal taste of otherslogi
- I guess I just don't like seeing the label 'dubstep' applied to this genre. People can listen to what they like, even if they're wrong.detritus
- that makes you a brain dead label whore but hey, could be worse i guesslogi
- ok.detritus

america has produced a significant portion of my favourite music.
i'm just calling you out on cocking up dubstep.
- Tell us your favorite music.capn_ron
- it takes a fool to blame the population of a country because you don't like your itunes playlist. knob off.logi
- There's that Atlantic divide in language subtlety rearing it's noronic fat head again.detritus
- noronic = slightly less mo than moronicdetritus
- did you watch the video above?
he was born in West Yorkshire, England. If case his accent sounds texan to you :)Miguex - I meant about certain peeps taking lowimpakt's dry tone too seriously!detritus

good point, but I agree w detrius it's the fact that mislead people into believing its something else, like going to a punk show, and suddenly jessica simpson's sister shows up on stage.everyone is entitled to their own opinions about music, you will never find me in a reggaeton concert and I'm sure lots of people think that what I'm into sucks.
- if you show up at a concert not knowing what you'll hear, don't have any preconceived expectations dummylogi
- as to say i've never attended a concert based on the genre of music being toutedlogi
- but more an artist i was already familiar with.logi
- yeah, once you start going to a lot more shows, "eventually" you will discover that some of the artists are new to youMiguex

I liked hiphop back in the mid 80s, then house, then techno, and techno remains my first love, really. I've liked some stuff in the myriad of genres that have come and gone since the early 90s, and I do like a lot of dubstep cause it's really got some balls a lot of it. I like stuff by Excision and Datsik and the like.
So what American dubstep is crap, then ? Can someone 'in the know' post a youtube of some crap dubstep so's I can rag on it and be cool ?- the popular view is that brostep is crap. brostep is anything that's hard and doesn't sound like reggaescarabin

Isn't this the route jungle and then drum and bass took, shortly before dying in a creative gutter?
There's nothing wrong with a bit of gnarly - but when it becomes the sum expectation, there's not very far you can go before it all starts sounding the same.
Anyway, there's little point discussing this here, what with the gross lack of understanding of certain clearly dry or tongue in cheek comments and children getting pissy.

I like songs, not genres.

I just can't figure out how to dance to these face melting drops. It makes me want to stand in the corner and head bang. Dubstep is good when it is groovy or dubby.

Is it me or is DUBSTEP like BACON. Everything is better with DUBSTEP
