If you haven't got anything to hide, then you shouldn't have anything to worry about

It's not actually GPS (It's cell phone triangulation, which isn't as accurate), and it's not sending any of that data to Apple - so it's not quite the issue some of the news outlets are sensationalising it to be - but it's still not good.
I can understand why it might keep a track (to speed up location services), but that stuff should be well encrypted.
- Who said it's not sending data back to Apple. If you believe that you're living in a dream world .pillhead

I'm pretty easy to find anyway, I'm usually at work or at home. Failing that try the pub.

@Nathan_Adams How do you know this isn't being sent to Apple?
I have nothing to hide, but seriously, why is this needed? If it's not needed, then don't fucking do it...or at least give me the option to opt out.
- The guys who discovered this say there's no evidence of it being transmitted. http://petewarden.gi…Nathan_Adams
- there is no proof but it may very well be that the file is being transmitted to Apple when you sync the device. You just don't know and knowing Apple, it most definitely is being transmitted.Boz
- know and knowing Apple, it most definitely is being transmitted.Boz

LOL at that piece of shit DarringFireball John Gruber..
He thinks it's awesome app and how everything is awesome and doesn't find anything wrong with this but goes on a shit crusade after Google for picking up unencrypted wifi signals while mapping streets.
God I hate that spineless, Jobs balls gargling piece of crap.
- LOL @ Jobs balls garglingBusterBoy

Boz - where did Gruber say anything like that? Looks like you're making up shit.
http://daringfireball.net/linked…- He says good work, nothing to sensationalize. REALLY?!... that piece of shit.. I hate his useless Apple balls sucking guts.Boz
- guts. Google accidentaly scans unprotected wifi signals and it's the end of world and this is not a big deal..Boz
- What a spineless asshole.Boz
- He says good work to the guys who expose it, and that's apparently sucking Apple's balls?Nathan_Adams
- Google's wifi scanning is much more concerning to me than this.Nathan_Adams
- RIGHT!.. Google was catching the opened Wifi signals anyone can do going through a community dumbass..Boz
- Gruber didn't say good job.. he said they didn't "sensationalize" it as it is not a big deal.. IT IS A FUCKING BIG DEAL.Boz
- No, good job for reporting the *facts*, and not assuming things. Learn some reading comprehension.Nathan_Adams

Some more info on what is happening. It seems it's more about keeping track of the cell towers you connect to, rather than where you are:

- Apple PR machinery is in motion!!! They didn't say a word .. but the hordes are working for them now..Boz
- At the end of it.. it will turn out this was all done for the good of consumers!Boz

Hopefully, this is old news to you, if not, I encourage you to check out the processed mobile logs of a German Green MP who recently sued for all his details from his mobile company.

To those of you in the "If I've nothing to hide.." camp - wake up! Where in The Great Book Of Man is it writ that anyone or any entity has any hint of right of omniscience over us?
It's got sod all to do with righteousness, merely simple philosophy.
You're a monkey, not an ant.
- .. fuckit, even ants can go off an do their own thing, unseen. I know — i saw it in a movie.detritus
