Rant:
Can somebody explain to me if companies actually pay blogs to write about them? I'm talking about your usual streetwear/culture/fashion blogs.
I'm asking because I've been trying to get some exposure for my brand but none of these more major blogs that thousands of people read would give a fark. Meanwhile they're more than happy to write about the next SUPREME x WESC line, or the new VANS x Colette special shoes. The brands that every fucker in the world knows.
Now I know, my stupid little Tee line doesn't deserve any credit, thousands of people are doing the same shit as I do, and its not endorsed by Alice Delall or Pharell Williams. I'm not saying I in particular deserve anything.
I also know, by posting those bullshit that everyone is used to, will also drive traffic, which is good for the blog. Because kids are well equipped to jump on whatever Vans come up with.
But, seriously, come on. Do I need another blog to inform me about the new OBEY shirts? I was just informed by the 13 yr old in the mall last weekend. And those Vans shoes look just like your last collab with the last dickhead
This will make me sound like I'm a stupid whiner complaining about how no one likes my work. I'm open to your nihilist QBN beatdowns. I just think its a phenomenon worth discussing.

why not put a press kit together (with a free t?) & hook up some local boutique style blogs / stores?

- A press kit is a nice pkg to let em know who u are what you're about.. like a look book tooNathanNice
- doesnt necessarily need previous press to be a press kit. Its FOR the press (ie. blogs)NathanNice

Hate the player, not the game. Or something.

Why not try and hook up with a freelance PR person that specializes in streetwear/fashion? It's probably a daunting task trying to break into the cool guy/art/fashion circles if you don't have any connections.

the prob is that streetwear is clearly over-saturated, especially just tees. The quality of the tee design is irrelevant, you need a brand, as that's all that matters in the game. That brand can be quality or it can be shit, as long as people recognize it/and/or value it.
"dude with tee shirt line" is not notable or novel, which is likely why they aren't interested in covering it.

Yes, most blogs get paid to write about your brand, it's called marketing. At the agency I work for we pay bloggers all the time to talk about campaigns we've just finished. Why don't you email the blogs you want to get on and ask them how much? It's not a secret, it's business.
