The obvious choice would be tomtom but it's not cheap. Navfree is a free alternative which seems ok although I haven't had a chance to test it out properly yet. Might be worth a look.

I use CoPilot, works well.
Make sure you have a decent in car adapter that can give the phone enough charge to both run and charge (some dont!).CoPilot was the one that I read most good things about before buying about a year ago.

I use TomTom with the TomTom car dock. Works.

navfree is good though the audio instructions sometimes gets the info on which exit to go off on roundabouts wrong even when the on screen graphic is right. As long as you have a quick glance at the screen on roundabouts to double check you're good. Other than that it's great!

I used to use CoPilot on Android and preferred it to TomTom.
Does iPhone not have Google Navigation? That's what I use on my Android now and it's great, and free.
If it doesn't have it, is this Google trying to drive towards Android or is it in development? If it's on it's way, wait for it as it is just as good as the paid ones, and it is free.
It's also lightweight in size compared to others as it's audio is run on Google's text-to-speech stuff.
