Let's settle this once and for all! We've got a new rooftop deck to christen this spring since we just bought our condo this past December and have barely been up there during the winter.
Can't wait to get a grill and do some barbecueing this summer. Not lived in a place with a big enough deck/patio to really have anything substantial.
So what's your opinion on gas or charoal? Pros and cons of both. I've uses both but just dont know what I want. Maybe thinking of a nice has grill and a cheap charcoal grill. Got some goals of perfecting BBQ chicken, and ribs this summer. Would love to have a smoker at some point as well.

Charcoal is going to give you that good grilling smokey taste takes a while to heat up
gas is fast to heat up , but refilling the tanks could be a pain
comes down to the taste imho (smokey or non)
- gas taste the food not the soot, add hickory bricks to a gas grill for smoke hint without the soot********
- alls you have to do is buy a new gas canister...? We bbq alot and only replace it 2-3 times a yeartoe_knee

Charcoal grilling is worth the cancer.

I'd go the route of nice gas grill and a cheap charcoal grill. Charcoal always smells better and tastes better, but sometimes you just want the quick easy convenience of the gas grill. As time goes on, you'll likely find the gas will be used more often.

Charcoal is better, when you have time to sit back and cook it slow. Add some woodchips soaked in water, now we're talking.
Gas works well, when you need to grill on the quick.
End.

fact > charcoal usually contains fuels that are burned off into your food********

Mmmmm. Just thinking about those crispy barbecue chicken wings and how they would go great with a warm saturday afternoon and some beer.

Get a gas grill. And use it everyday day during the summer, you lucky roofdeck-owning bastard.

LET'S SEE YOU DO THIS WITH GAS

Gas simply for convenience. If you want to smoke things they sell things where you can put wood chips inside a steel box and then load your food inside in a compartment above, essentially simulating the charcoal grill. I know pottery barn sells a gas grill smoker for like 40 bucks but there's bunch of different ones out there.
Charcoals nice but it's a pain in the ass especially when you just want to cook one steak for yourself. Plus they get dirty really fast.

Gas is easier to clean and you just have to turn a dial to get it going.
After a while your grille plate with get some nice residue on it and you'll get that nice burnt taste.

gas is your friend

Purists love film for good reason but for most of us shooting analog is not at all practical and is in fact a significant amount more work, time, and money. That said, a true photography enthusiast would probably keep a cheap but decent film camera around for when they're feeling inspired.

The hipsters sure do love their charcoal grills.
