Thanks to pressplay, I now know that I'm immature and sexist.
God I hope he doesn't find out that I check out COTD almost everyday.

I've found it to be the opposite. All of my female friends love Lynch/Aronofsky e.t.c and although most of my male friends do also enjoy their work, they engage with it all a lot less.

Actually... It was a girl who 'made me' go see Black Swan... i had no interest in it and I usually like Aronofsky.

When I'm dating someone for the first time I love to go see an Aronofsky movie as a pretty reliable test.
1) She says: "That was weird"= One night stand
2) She mentions the music and uses words like "cinematography" and "character portrail"= Possible long-term relationship
3) She gives me a blowjob during the movie= Marriage material- scientific process right theremonospaced
- Don't marry her if 3 though, or you'll never get another blow job.mikotondria3

There are people who enjoy / dislike pretension, there are people who have a genuine love / hatred for specific genre's of film/art, and there are people who genuinely like / don't like to be challenged. People consume media in different ways for different reasons - and it's okay.
I reckon it's fine if you're other half doesn't like these films. What a person likes shouldn't fully define how you identify with them. Difference is good.
