Did anyone see this? I caught it last night and it was amazing. I felt like I was going to lose my breath at times because it was hard to watch, but man, no matter what, medical science is fucking fascinating. 13 hour surgery to remove the majority of the tumor on this man's face, at a Chicago hospital.

Shit... Small world. I must have seen this man in a grocery store in Lisbon, 3 or 4 years ago, I was there for two days. One of the most terrifying sights of my life. I told my gf not to look and she did, reacting in something of a shock. Interestingly, she doesn't remember this now at all.
- That's where he's from. Lisbon.mg33
- I know, clicked the wikipedia link and couldn't believe. Counts as a celebrity sighting now I guess.raf
- I remember how we manoeuvred our way through the aisles to avoid passing close to him. Sounds pathetic...raf
- ...but it was repulsion on a physiological level, like when you try to keep a child from seeing a bad accidentraf
- I'm really happy to find out this man has been taken care of.raf

Totally reminds me of that movie Basket Case 2!

Aw come on it's a bit of a shock for few seconds, then you inspect the details - because we have a huge and active part of our brains devoted to examining the shape of other people/animals for differences - then you think - shit, poor fella, I really hope he can get fixed. I dunno, I go from observing myself respond like that to seeing him as an opportunity for hope.

Touching story, I saw this last night. The doctor that did it, I do believe did it Pro-Bono. He looked like GWB's brother and sounded like him too. Regardless of the outcome, that guy was only in his 50's and he'll probably live a full life because of it. Additional plastic surgery required, but I doubt that'll be free.

WTF are some of you "liberal" guys talking about, the guy was born that fucking way. The show was about his suffering and the way the doctor and St. Joseph's, I think, helped this average guy, who obviously was in intolerable physical and psychological pain and probably still is, tbh.
- how are any of the previous comments "liberal " ?mikotondria3
