4G Android smartphone hits a few speed bumpsPros: Huge 4.3-inch display, First 4G network device , Fast downloads and media streaming, Doubles as a personal Wi-Fi hotspot
Cons: Bulky, Limited 4G coverage, Extra monthly fees, Convoluted video chat app , Paltry battery life
- If I'm not mistaken Sprint's 4G network is actually from Clear wireless.kgvs72

I have two friends that have one, I thought it's a pretty decent phone. Touch screen is very responsive. HTC are very well known for their ease of rooting as well.

I heard good things about it.

Is the EVO an dual core processor? If I was you (I'm doing this) I'd hold out to see how some of the dual core phones are shaping up:

Ah - too late. I got this puppy at a steal ($50 after sprint eligble upgrade and account credits). Couldn't really hold-out as my current palm centro piece-of-shite is literally on it's last leg - average battery life is like 2-3 hrs.

I like mine but battery life is all over the place. There are days when I upplug around 6:30am and it's dead by 2pm and other days it goes until 10pm or so

I have one. I love the phone but like everyone says, out of the box it's a battery killer. Installing advanced task killer and tweaking it a bit will help. After which, I find I only swap out batteries only once a day. (Note: i'm not making tons of calls)
I'd recommend picking up a battery charger & a spare battery. (You can get a charger and two batteries on Amazon for under $40 usd. ) Other recommended apps to get the most out of the phone: Superuser permissions (to root the phone), busybox installer, Lookout mobile security, ad free and Titanium backup.

never use a task killer
had mine about a year, a few calls a day. i watch/listened to true grit the other morning waking up moving about the bedroom/bathroom cleaning a bit before leaving. i took the charger into the office but didn't need to charge it until that night after i was home. i leave wi-fi on but leave off bluetooth, gps, & 4g until needed, that seems to help the battery life more than anything.
