Looking in to Media Temple dedicated virtual hosting.
Pros / cons?

Nope, not a dev person. But I like to tinker around.

That is true. CG.
One other reason is that I work with devs and they access my host to do stuff.
I wondered if it is a better solution instead of regular grid hosting.

Don't do it. Media Temple sucks.....SUCKS. Get yourself a box from either of these companies. Great people, great support.

I've had mixed experience with Mediatemple DV. Linode or Slicehost are better but probably require a dev's help to set up.

I'm of the belief that the only reason MT is still in business are their shiny promo website graphics.
Seriously, have you run into someone who's had a site hosted with them who's had a positive experience? I haven't.

I haven't had any problems with MT. I've been hosting with them for the past 6 years.
