Better than anything out there for a low budget site, but here are the minuses/critics I can think of.

    1. Very slow
    2. A bit sterile
    3. The nav blows
    4. I have to search for it, to find what the site is about
    5. Bad calendar
    6. Content is hidden - take the calendar on the home page
    7. Make the logo bigger

makes me want to go on vacation... the only thing that bothered me was in the photos, in the youtube video from the link at the bottom, was missing the people.. i see stock images of elpez.. but seems no one goes there, as it was missing the key element of the human being.. other than that i want a vacation but somewhere perhaps wit h people in it..

of the photos with people in it, you see "her ass" as its 1 person shot thru the hotel.. but of her looking outwards to the sea.. this makes me wonder who the target audience is, if its adolescent men or boys or if it that chick we see.. not sure..

or the images used for activities.. like "spanish lessons" and the image is a girl reading a book on a lounge chair.. i dont know what the lesson is with that image as the one standing next to it.. is it self reading what looks more like a girl reading a novel paper back danielle steel love story over learning any spanish..

the "fishing" image of some gun on the front of a boat back view of him sitting with arms stretched back so he could enjoy the sun and view, but doesnt appear to be fishing at all..

the end line "Ask Reception" was too repetitive.. it felt like it was a run lola run that made me think that after reading 3 of these intros to activities that i was on an infinite loop and somehow read the same thing twice.. perhaps move the words around so that things dont become on that repeat b4 the people actually get to the island resort..

in terms of the site, the area below the map/ weather/ trip advisor has too large of a white space that the info below can definitely be brought up higher giving the viewer more to read and absorb before having to scroll down to see the content.. also the drop down of the map/weather/ trip advisor push the content below, further down in the site, so having that white space serves no purpose if the content is going to move below anyways.

i think going over the chosen images and perhaps using other ones that inspire the idea of the content would help sell the idea to go on vacation at elpez..

Here are just a few things to try, note my opinion I'm far from an expert.

I think the Map and Current Weather should just show on the home page, assuming the weather is ALWAYS (or nearly always) nice. To anyone living through the snowpacalypse that would have been a nice reminder of what to do. Don't make me click anymore than I have too. Then get rid of it from the rest of the site.

That said move the trip advisor somewhere else, You haven't sold the visitor on anything yet and your already sending them away.

I think you really need to consider what the function of the site is. I would assume it is to get bookings, so with that in mind I would make the links to rates and to book a central call to action somewhere on the home page.

When i click on the room rates page, DON'T make me click again to see the room rates. Put them right on that page, and add another call to action to book a reservation. Simply the room rates if possible. Check out this site:

Totally unrelated to what you are doing, but a ok example of how to handle something like that. See if you can get the client to put together and handful of really simple packages to use as general price points. Lead with those and then go into the more complicated breakdowns. Really put some design thought into those charts they are nasty as is, but something your visitor will need to go through if they are serious. This is a very important feature of the site, and it looks like it was an afterthought. This is the SALE, and if the site gets sales your client will LOVE you.

Rethink your entire photo gallery, its too slow, and its not intuitive. The wedding photos are tiny? The pop ups change size for every photo, I found this to be particularly annoying. Make the photos bigger - and use a better system for displaying them, IE not a light box. I know they're cool and easy to implement, I have to break my fingers to keep myself from using them sometimes, this requires something different.

Your activities page is ok, but could be more engaging. If your going to put a call to action at the bottom of the page make it sing, to just use hyperlinked text.

That's as far as i got.

    • boy my first sentence is screwed.Note: it's just my opinion,jtb26
