Ponder this QBNers: What if you had to be officially approved in order to have permission to post to the public choice? I'm sick of this blog spam. Discuss.

Public Choice?

i don't think i ever look at the public choice, isn't it always full of spam anyway?
- jetSkii0
So you want to privatize it? Possibly rename it to The Private Choice?

the spam is making me stop looking, otherwise i think its qbn's best feature. people need to use it more, post stuff and look because there's some quality posted daily next to the spam.

^ exactly. I love the stuff that pops up there when it's real content.. but when 4/5 posts on the homepage are spam, it just makes me ignore that section of the site.

every now and then some of the content in the spam is worth a quick look.

maybe a quiz for first time posters?

actually, i think that utopian should be elevated to mod status, for public choice only. a much simpler solution.

what are the rules for it? not arguing, but if i post a new illustration there, i'd probably get told to put it in the "show recent work" thread. or - if i found some work that i thought was pretty decent, i'd probably get told to stop spamming or get "great, another blog"
- mydo0
on the upside it probably keeps this board cleaner?

who has PC invite?

I think the rule should be you have to have posted at least 10 times to the gif animation thread. That way we know they are true QBNers.

Maybe the longevity of a submission is based on the thumbs up thumbs down model from logged in users.
- or maybe theres just a thumbs down button, and if it reaches a threshold its deleted?ifeltdave
- thumbs down is a good idea.bjladams
- there already is a +1 but it doesn't seem to do very muchDodecahedron
- that's what you think, dodeca.bigtrick

I definitely think there should be a minimum of 30 days or so before you can post in there...Most spam comes from people that just see the website, sign up for an account, post their spam and never come back.
