Windows doesn't do that for PSDs period. The problem is a supposed he said/she said between Adobe and Microsoft as to why it doesn't work. You can always use Bridge.

there WAS a .dll or something you could carry over from an earlier version (maybe PS5.5 or PS6), that would allow you to preview PSDs. in the windows explorer. Not sure if that still works in Win7 though.

http://www.techyard.net/enable-t… maybe this?
i just use bridge. past i used irfan and acdsee(prefered over bridge but bridge seems to be better working these days). I do love the browsers views for jpegs and the like though. Fast and dynamic. Alt+P for larger view in browser. Hate mac folders with all the leftovers hidden files. Shit can end up taking a lot of space, not too mention the clutter. always delete the shit out of them. Also enjoy the info+thumbnail in the lower bar when im working in detailed view.
- not too mention i dont mind the psd icon. lets me know working file from one saved from viewing with out reading.********
