what about the 2005 MBP's? 15" inch intel 2.0 only a "2gb capable machine". anyone know otherwise?

just thought i should provide an update in case any of you try this.
scratch that 8gb of ram on early '08 models. the system recognizes 8gb and it will allow you to use all of it, but once you hit 8gb the system becomes VERY unstable.
i'm swapping out one of the 4gb sticks for a 2gb (which i've read people can run without any problems). i have one 4gb stick and 1 1gb stick right now for a total of 5gb and the system maxes out fine.
anyway, just don't want to be responsible for anyone trying 8gb on account of me and running into problems! :)

Sounds great...
Anyone know if this kind of upgrade works well on the newer models? I have 4GB on a 15.4" 2.53Ghz MacBook Pro with Intel Core i5. It's quick but I wouldn't say no to more speed...
