Hey QBNers,
I hope I'm not crucified for asking for your feedback but yesterday we re-launched Cutcaster, which used to be slow and green (some of you will remember the older version and gave awesome feedback which we used) and replaced it with a faster and cleaner site. We completely redesigned and re-wrote our code to make the site easier to use and faster. However I have been looking at it for so long that I need fresh eyes to pick it apart and tell me why the design community wouldn't use it or like the site.
Some issues I am fixing at the moment include the width of the homepage which is awesome when viewed on large monitors but can get cut off slightly on smaller ones (some of you may notice this), maybe decreasing the size of the slideshow player on the homepage and also the text on the homepage which people have been telling me to left align.
What else can or should we look at?
We really wanted to simplify the design to make the site just about searching and downloading images and nothing else. Thanks for the look and any comments.

I'm curious, w/ so much competition, what it is your doing differently?
Not too mention, thinkstock has a search filter that allows you to narrow down your search (two people in shot, facing camera, etc...)

I would love to talk about that in another thread or can email you but I would really like to get just design feedback here and stay on track.
I do like what you said about Thinkstock and the filtering. Our filtering if you look under advanced search is very powerful.
You can:
a. Browse by Category
b. Search by Member Name
c. Search by Photos or Vectors or both
d. Search by Orientation and Color
e. Search by Exclusives only - Pictures only in Cutcaster's image library
f. Search by Extended License only - Images that offer additional rights
g. Adult Content - To include tasteful mature content
h. Output Option - Order by Newest (most recent uploads), Order by Relevance (set to default, orders by best match)
i. Choose the number of Results per PageI am assuming you like the filter where you can choose the number of people or the orientation of the subject. Are there any other filters that are really useful?

i do like how the site goes dark when rolling over a photo when being viewed on its own page.

Honestly, it doesn't look very good.
- Which part do you not like? I have thick skin and would love to hear how to improve it.johngrif

What the hell is wrong with this site? Everything I'm trying to post is being denied due to "the nature of its content"...

i'm really disappointed in the architecture. overall its utterly confusing and the design layout and proportions bother me. The main photo flickers in a strange way. The photo slideshow is strange. I cannot make any sense of the combinations and reasons for the display choices as if they were just randomly put together for no rhyme or reason.

@jetskii This is all really, really good and thanks. How do you think we could make it less confusing? I would love to hear anything specific and will fix that.
I am glad you like the feature on the media details page where you have the roll-over that blacks out the background and lets you see the image clearly.

just out of curiosity why are there rollovers on the category names (bottom of the site) of the bottom menu when theres no click through?

I'm not sure how the credits work, but the amounts seem strange and confusing. I'd think something like 1,2,3,4,5 credits would be more straightforward instead of .70, 4.05, 5.95 which looks more like dollar amounts.

@such that is really interesting. I think that is definitely clearer and need to think about that. I assume you know how credits work when buying images but the amounts do look weird for our pricing. Great call.
@moldero I can fix that. No real reason. I was going to link it to a general topic page but thought that was an extra click and never did it.
