^the GF1 is only a fraction worse than that in terms of IQ and high iso.
Save yourself lots of money and go with a micro four thirds cam.

Not half as good as I'd hoped, based on this anyway. Image quality doesn't seem too hot using RAW but I guess RAW can be fixed up
- 74% is high for dpreview. They're quite critical.********

where did you see it for 699 CAD? I'm looking into buying this as well

@atkinson
i was hoping the high iso would be slightly better, but its still the best compact high iso.
IQ wasnt enough for you? i thought it looked much better than the LX5 and s95 in both jpeg and RAW particularly up to 800.

Awww man! What a bunch of morons. And it's nikon, they make pro stuff. You think they'd know better!

It's annoying with cameras at the moment for me.
I want the following -
-compact camera
-attachable EVF (to transform it, feeling wise, from a compact to a full DSLR)
-decent video
-good high iso 1600 (good being subjective of course)The two appropriate options would seem to be:
E-pl1/2 - with an excellent EVF, but sadly this lacks the high ISO that's right for me.OR
Nex 5 - with very good high iso, good video (almost very good, but obviously not GH2 territory), but lacking the EVF.
I just want a nex 5 with an attachable EVF. The sensor in that camera is incredible.

Also big geek news.
Schnieder, Zeiss, and Sigma have announced they will make lenses for micro four thirds!!
Hopefully sigma will being some decent cheap glass for m43.
Sony also included the list of the first companies that will join the e mount nex system:
1) Zeiss
2) Cosina
3) Sigma
4) Tamronawesome times. The main advantage of going for a DSLR is the abundance of lenses and accessories at competitive prices. Now hopefully nex and m43 will have the same :)

well the S95 is better all round I think. In certain areas like low light the Olympus wins. It depends what you need. The xz1 is big for a compact. The lens cap is an arse of an idea. JPGs are bad, RAW is ok.
I've recently gone back to the Ricoh GRD3 which is excellent and more fun to use than the s95 but has NO features. But that suits me.
