OK, so i erased my MyBook Pro that I used for my Time Machine backup. Due to a Logic board update, it was no longer recognized by the computer, and I was fine with fully erasing it and starting a fresh backup cycle.
Now it's been erased, and disk utility tells me:
"Disk Utility can't repair this disk" when I click Verify Disk or Repair Disk.I'm assuming I can restore it if I have the right files for the thing to work.
Can anyone offer any tips on what I should do now? I just want it running again to start a fresh Time Machine backup.
Thanks.

check the bottom of this link... "cryptic error message" with WD:

if you're on intel go into partitioning and create partition as GUID.

Maybe you can't verify or repair a new disc. (the system would see it as new after erasing). ??
Can you ignore Disk Utility and start a new Time Machine backup?

I figured it out with this site:

It needed to be partitioned for a first time since it was blank. As soon as I did that with one partition it was recognized and ready for Time Machine. Back to normal I think, it's backing up now.

yeah same as what i posted, although i would recommend choosing GUID instead of Apple Partition Map if you're on an Intel Mac.
