I'm trying to find out how much it cost to get a web app made.
I've heard 25K but that can't be the cheapest, I imagine price depends on how complex the app is.Any ideas on price ranges? Anyone have experience getting one made?

I'll do it for 24,999.99

What sort of app did you have in mind? I may be able to go below 24,999.99.

depends on the scale of the app. I can imagine making a random number generator is much cheaper than making Facebook.

I'll get that done for a solid 20k plus expenses....

where is the job data coming from? database? feed? is there profile data? what kind of functionality should it have?
25k could actually be pretty low for something like that if it's an ambitious project that's going to have to be as good as dice, monster or careerbuilder.
- database, no profile data. basic search functionality is all that is needed.jacklalane

prolly about 2 weeks of work for the engine, who knows how much for the rest of the site... so yeah, will easily be ~$15k for what you've described plus more for whatever else you want to tack on.
could probably get it cheaper from someone with only a couple years of experience who's 'feeling' their way through the project, but as they say, you get what you pay for..

btw, save yourself some money by building out the html/css portion so all that's left is moderate front, plus middle/back-end

This is like asking how much a house will cost....
Is it the Taj Mahal? Is it a shotgun shack?
Does the city have plumbing .... sewer and electical or do we have to make a septic tank and a well?
i.e. how complicated is this and how many external dependencies have to be determined?

With all due respect to Steve Jobs, it's not exactly rocket science, is it? I can have it by tomorrow for an even 10k.

is there a web service already in place that allows for a query and returns a structured response? If not, that could be a big cost to implement. The front end could probably be done (ugly), in as little as a day.

save some money for the front end.
