Hello i have downloaded a Wordpress theme, ive been playing around with background colors etc that's all fine. This is my first wordpress site so this might seem a bit of a stupid question but i have changed the color’s of some of the png files to black and updated them on my ftp in the image folder but it isn't updating on the site Im working on? Am i missing something?
Thanks Matt

This could be a simple cache issue. Clear your cache and then reload the page.
If the problem persists you've probably updated it in the wrong directory. If it is a background image native to the theme it'll be located in the theme folder somewhere. Make sure you change all instances of the file.
- < Yeah, very likely to be the cache. Especially if you have super cache switched on!Sneakybadger2

Provide links, otherwise this thread is heading nowhere, Matt.

something that might help:

check your folders, some themes come with a Development folder that has the same structure as the theme

yeah, I cannot help you unless know which theme you are using. They are all different, for the most part. There could be various issues with them, including installing external plug-ins. Plug-ins can cause your total system to get buggered up or even at the worst hacked.

The only images stored in Blogum's folder are in the images folder. Can you post the images that aren't changing for you?

The parts im trying to change is the dash to Black (gray atm). They are between the menu buttons in the header called menu.png. I have saved over them i even put a new file called menublk.png in the images folder on my ftp, but then there was nothing there at all in the menu bar?
Is there a way to update the files in wordpress?
Matt
- Appearance -> Theme Options -> Stylesheet.CSS within the editor perhaps?chilamont

Listen dude, this theme: http://wpshower.com/free-wordpre… is pretty sweet, especially for free, but in saying that support might be at a minimum. If you take a gander around the Wp community, you will see that most themes that cost money are heavily supported in a forum area. In terms of images, i would use the default CMS and just bulk them up into your MEDIA area. eh?

determine whether that gray line is an image and replace it, or if it is defined go to: Appearance -> Theme Options -> Stylesheet.CSS within the editor perhaps?

Could be here: Blog Page Page Template (template_blog.php)
but I doubt it

yourdomain/wp-content/themes/blo...
just swap that file with the one you want to replace it with. obviously if you change the name of the file you have to update the name in the style.css file, line 42:
.menu li { float: left; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; background: url( "images/menu.png" ) 0 50% no-repeat; margin: 0 12px 0 -9px; padding-left: 9px; }
- that's what I was hinting at abovechilamont
- Hi yeah tryed all that but its stiil not working? :(mattwrightgd

yourdomain / wp-content / themes / blogum / images / menu.png

Servers sometimes cache files too, this is unusual now but old Windows servers used to need a reboot every now and then.
