im working through some keyword research and i have 2 columns of numbers attached to each term in a matrix i.e.
keyword, visits, competition
houses for sale, 135000,10400000
house for rent, 33100 4690000i'd like to know based on these numbers how easy a term is to achieve based on the number of potential visits vs how competative the keyword is
anyone give me a hand (something in excel would be great!)

i haven't and still don't understand what the competition column represents, competing against what? other terms on the same server? i'd assume you need to create an equation, even an easy one that divides visit by competition then again by frequency if you have that data available, the higher that number, the more likely that term is to drive traffic to your destination server... but i still don't understand what the competition column numbers represent... the higher the better or worse?

sounds to me like a simple ratio. create a percentage. visits / competition x 100. the higher the percentage the easier it is to acheive.
