QBN snappers,
I'm after a tripod, one that has a 'centre spindle horizontal tilt'.
I've found a Velbon VS-3 (see pic, not actual one) in a second-hand camera shop but he wants £120 (approx $190) for it. Is this right or is he taking the pish? Have ebay'd but nothing in the UK, found one (sold) in Jo'berg for £15!
Or, what's the 2010 equivalent?
Many thanks!

Velbon is junk. It will be broken in no time at all.
Just about every Manfrotto pod currently on the market has this ability.

for 180 you can get a manfrotto 055 prob (without a head though), with a center column:
http://www.amazon.com/Manfrotto-….i wouldn't put a nice camera on that tripod you posted.

here you go mate:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Manfrott…£163.23. this will serve you much better than that velbon.

this one's a bit cheaper:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Manfrott…£93.66, that + your own head = same price as the velbon.

Manfrotto!

Velbon is a ripoff.
The Manfrotto 190PRO (not the 190) is probably the cheapest good tripod with horizontal bar option.

Manfrotto it is. Thanks all

Used Manfrotto from a photographer quitting the biz or an art student who hates tripods is a good way to go....a small allen head wrench can tighten loose leg locks too... most other tripods just get loose with age and cannot be fixed as easily

yeah, that contraption wouldn't last more than a few weeks and then would fold up back into a pumpkin at midnight.
Agree with Manfrotto. Great quality at reasonable prices and lots of pieces to mix and match for the most part.

Any good if I could get it for £40? Would only be used for lite work now and again (shooting the odd mag spread from above) hence why I'm looking at seconds.
