I'm not a gamer and I know nothing about this stuff. We're thinking of getting the Wii plus the fit stuff, what do I need to get? Is the Wii fit different to the Wii? Help me man, help me.

Yeh you need to buy Wii Fit as an add-on. It's worth it if you have a gf/wife to play it with, otherwise it'll just collect dust.
Wii Sports Resort is fun - especially as it sounds like you've never touched games before.
- I love the Wii resort, Especially the one where you fly around the island and can go into the mouth of the volcano.CyBrain

Kinect just came out, I'd be tempted to say get that instead. I played it a little yesterday and it's not too bad.

we got one for the wife and i last christmas - we're not really gamers, but played it nonstop for about 3 weeks- then it sat there for 6 months.
but then we hooked it up to netflix and that's what it's used for 90% of the time. we've got 2 kids under 3 and they both still play on it on rainy days.

Wii is perfect for 2-16 years old, women, non-gamers, parties
PS3: Casual gamers
Xbox360: fps multiplayer addicts

It's time for a Super Wii.
The Wii came out years ago and Nintendo put all bets on the interface technology (Wiimote) instead of the hardware. They proved their point that graphics weren't everything and saved everyone a lot of cash. Problem is, I don't like playing my Wii anymore because, since I upgraded from a CRT to a flat screen, it just looks too low-resolution.
I imagine a Super Wii with, for starters, built-in storage, a much more powerful video card and HD capabilities. Games can use the blu-ray format and hold lots of more information. They're probably doing it, but I'm just thinking. Have a nice Sunday.

they are going to need to leap frog the current ps3 and xbox360 capabilities otherwise they are going to be forever playing catch up.
soon there will be a PS4 and new xbox.. and it any new Wii will need to compete with this level, not just the next.
its a tall order.

I'd get a 360

Does the 360 have a fitness thing?

I have a wii and just got a 360 with kinect yesterday, way more fun and better graphics. I'm not ditching the wii just yet, they still make a fun of classic games.

its easy to establish whether or not to buy a nintendo wii.
If you are female or under 12 - yes
if not - noid say go for a ps3 or 360. PS3 is free to play online (the way it should be). 360 you have to pay, it might be a small amount, but its the principle.
- it seems above posts echo my wii opinion!Hombre_Lobo_2
- Free PSN is not comparable to Xbox Live. You need PS Plus for a better comparison.ETM

get scarabin to chime in, hasnt he got every console under he sun?
also the ps3 has the new playstation move controller, which from what ive seen likes way better and responsive than kinect or wii.
http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=t…i believe scarabin has this too. gotta love them geeks!

I have a Wii and PS3. Wii never gets turned on anymore. PS3 is dope and works as a nice streaming mediacenter too (Lookup Playback for Mac).
Havent tried the Move shit yet, but like people said, once you try wii fit, it loses its charm after a few months and ends up just being a hassle to pull out the extra piece of shit and get off your ass and play. Like its actually more fun to go outside and go for a walk/run, and thats not very fun usually.

On a side note, my Wii was super easy to mod tho, running game disk images copied to an external hard drive, along with a bunch of retro shit like the NES, SNES, GBA, Genesis libraries running on very well done emulators. Takes a little knowhow but it improves the use of the machine by 365. Now I bring it out once a year, instead of never.

I might actually look at kinect first.... games like the dance one, and I think there is a fight club once coming or something... appear much better than Wii fit. I have a Wii and the Wii fit games.... it's great if you are 300 pounds and haven't moved much in the last 10 years... and for parties. But as an actual program to get really fit, not sure about that.

Wii Mario Cart is tops.

So it's a present mainly for my wife and two year old son, and I'll join in the fun! We won't be playing games etc except for parties / fitness. With that in mind, which would you suggest?
