Wow.. I actually might like this
"t's hard to believe that what we're looking at is real -- but we assure you, the picture above is in fact the PlayStation Phone you've long been waiting for. As we reported back in August, the device you see is headed into the market soon, likely boasting Android 3.0 (aka Gingerbread), along with a custom Sony Marketplace which will allow you to purchase and download games designed for the new platform. The device snapped up top (and in our gallery below) is sporting a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 (a chip similar to the one found in the G2, but 200MHz faster), 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, and the screen is in the range of 3.7 to 4.1 inches. Looking almost identical to the mockup we hit you with this summer, the handset does indeed have a long touchpad in the center which is apparently multitouch, and you can see in the photos that it's still bearing those familiar PlayStation shoulder buttons. For Sony buffs, you'll be interested to know that there's no Memory Stick slot here, but there is support for microSD cards."

I think it could do well...almost targets a different market from iPhone, more of the younger crowd

I been wishing they'd do a super compact light weight attachment to the iphone just like the d pad and buttons of a standard ps3 controller. Then we'd be able to play serious games on the thing and not just the unresponsive shit they have now. Granted, that would be annoying and probably pricey and just another thing to lug around. But it's the only way to enjoy a REAL game.

I guess I'm alone in that I don't see much need to play games on my iPhone

seriously, less than ten minutes ago i signed another two-year for a new iphone.
i would give this thing a go for a generation.

how do you know is not going to COMPLETELY MELT THE FACES OF EVERY OTHER PHONE AVAILABLE?
you instantly assumed that the high end hardware require to play games like on a PSP will only be able to that, just games. As if people around the world are not buying MBP just to check email and facebook

SonyEricsson is barely anything to do with Sony and nothing to do with Sony Computer Entertainment who make the Playstation.
All they have done is allow them to use the button layout/icons

Really really really ugly

Is it just me, or does a 1ghz chip in a heavy app-specific bit of kit seem a little bit mean and last generation?
It's a premium phone, so the varying x dollar cost between processor types isn't too much of a deal - so why not go the whole hog and unleash one of ARM's newer, possibly multiple core, processors?
Sony don't push boundaries any more, to their disadvantage.
- Trying to see if you can turn a piece of shit into a best seller isn't pushing the boundaries?Amicus
