my friends wife has it, I have no idea what it is but I accidentally drank one of her gluten free beers she left in the fridge and not only was it disgusting but she was pissed.

I probably have it. Been gluten free for a month as a trial, ate a sandwich or two, now feel as sick as a dog. :( I was diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, but it might be more. My father's side of the family all have IBS...
Good tips? Advice? Aside from seeing a doctor...

Looking at the symptoms, it seems it could be from so many other illnesses
Diarrhea
Constipation
Chronic indigestion
Chronic bloating
Poor appetite
Abdominal cramping, pain, and distention.
Mouth ulcers
Lactose intolerance- Yes but those could also be symptons of celiac's, all I read about it was that it's a bit vagueeating_tv

Some of family members have it, and they said that this was one the best articles that they've read on the subject. Far better than the info doctors were providing. The article goes into the history of the disease and the most current forms of treatment and detection. I highly recommended reading this.
- very interesting read... frmo a hard-science pov also....vaxorcist

My wife has a gluten sensitivity, though at the time it came to light there was no blood test (which i hear there is now), so it was a diagnosis of exclusion, but also related in part to her fibromyalgia.
She did the same thing you did; quit for a while, said "fuck it" and then ate a hot dog roll and paid for it.
She REALLy misses gluten and is thinking of trying to slowly re-introduce it to see if she really is senstitive, plus you need to have been eating gluten for the blood test to show anything, i guess.Lots of foods are going gluten-free with little or no detriment to their taste. My wife misses pastries and bread, as we have a hard time finding recipes and mixes that don't taste funky for those things. But we use buckwheat flour for pancakes and Corn Chex, ground up, for breadcrumbs, etc

I just found there's a great reform shop in my city where they bake gf bread :| A friend of mine who has chronic leukemia goes there for his foodstuffs. But the girl who works there whom I spoke to mentioned that it could also be wheat allergy, not so much gluten but just wheat and wheat starch.

i'm pretty familiar with celiacs disease. i designed this site a little over a year ago, and am in the process of giving it a facelift. i will say, these are the absolute best tasting crackers you can eat with celiacs disease. we're all hooked at the office and i've turned them onto so many friends and family. if you suffer from celiacs i highly suggest you try these crackers.

What kind of drugs can you get when you've got celiac disease? Anything cool, like Ritalin?

I've been experimenting with gluten free foods for a few weeks now, and it's been quite a change internally for me. I just did this as a test based on years of symptoms I'd noticed and kept reading up on.
I just wish I could find a good gluten free cookie from the store, and a decent beer. St Peter's is sort of ok, Redbridge is fine, Bard's is not so cool, New Grist was disgusting.
