Interesting article on the BBC on the hate of Comic Sans:
Comic Sans, that unassuming jaunty typeface lurking inside millions of computers, has become the target of an online hate campaign. Simon Garfield explains why normally mild-mannered people are so enraged by its use.

Because it's supposed to look like manuscript, but it doesnt

My mom uses it as a first grade teacher because it's simple for kids to read, and it's one of the only basic typefaces included on a standard computer where the capital i doesn't look like lower case L. She can't use a serif typeface bc then the children try to write in serif fonts...
- I would love to see first-graders trying to draw serif typefacesmonospaced
- that is an awesome answer. everything has it's place.bjladams

There is nothing wrong with it at all. Every font has it's place like every color has it's place.
I've read comic sans is actually the most readable font for children and people with learning difficulties. Pretty impressive font then really.

Having said that when it is seen not in use for children or for people with learning difficulties it often does look terrible.
