"I don't have a 10 year plan .. I tend to think about the immediate future more than long term, but I do know what I'd like to achieve over the next [enter number of years you expect to stay at company] years.
Over the past year I have [list achievement] in order to [list reason behind achievement]. This has provided me with [list a benefit] and [list more benefits to the company you're applying to]. To follow on from this, I hope to be able to [list future hoped for accomplishment] over the next [expected length of time]. I hope that given my previous experience and enthusiasm for [accomplishment] I'll be able to achieve my aims by [example of how your skill-set will be utilised].
Hopefully, by ensuring that my near-future goals are met, I can ensure that my long-term future pans out well, and that I will have made good efforts to further establish my career in 10 years time."

Hopefully working alongside 3 - 4 other people that are kick ass at what they do, in a studio with lots of Ikea furntiture, working less and making more. And shaving more.
- my co-workers hate it when i try to shave them.iCanHasQBN

In 10 years time I'd like to be an interactive designer .. working on experimental installations all over the world. Being paid lots of money to consult - speaking at conferences regularly. Married or with a long-term lover. Maybe a helicopter.
- i would like to apply for the long-term lover position.nadanada

Finishing my 10th book.
Trying to talk my son out of attending the colleges he's been accepted to, which I can't afford, and urging him to travel the world, figure out where his interests are.

i'll be living in amsterdam, working at a small design agency. trotting around europe on a pretty white horse during my long vacations. no wife or kids. just relaxing. sitting by the canal under a tree, sipping coffee (hot chocolate rly). maybe working on bicycles in my free time, and riding them a lot. and... thats it. and cats.

in 10 years, i'll be 48.
My daughter will be 17 and finishing up highschool, looking at heading off to university....
my son will be be 14 and in grade 9 or so....
i guess i picture myself doing what i've always done...working on interesting projects, hopefully working with the same people that i'm with now...
i picture myself trying my best to stay current with the latest advances in tech....while i don't handle development myself, i have an insatiable appetite to read just about everything on techcrunch, mashable, engadget and a few other techblogs...
i've got a few irons in the fire outside of my office, extra curricular projects etc...i have hopes that some of them will turn into modest successes.....on the fantastical side of things, i also see myself making movies.
i've been a voracious reader my entire life..mainly sci-fi.....
for a long, long time now, i've had this vision of making movies of the many books ive read over the years....
i have this notion that the software needed to animate characters, make sets/locations, have dialogue etc will probably be a lot more accesible in the future....imagine 'kinect' or project natal for xbox...but able to grab a fairly decent mo-cap of your performance, and translate it to a character on screen....that sort of thing....
imagine being able to make 'enders game' the movie, and have it actually look fairly close to a hollywood style budget, kind of vibe....but just done on your home computer using over the shelf technology...
anyhow, i've had that in my mind for years, and every year it seems to me the tech is getting closer to being able to achieve it....
i figure in 10 years time, i'll be able to peruse my list of sci-fi books and pick a title and over the course of a year or two make a fairly enjoyable movie of it....i think that would be an absolute blast as a hobby.....i also picture my wife and i sitting in our backyard, enjoying a swim in the pool, and generally being happy....which i usually am anyway....
