^ Lol, Enoch and Nucky are the same guy! Nucky is his nickname, Enoch is his real name.
You're thinking of his brother Eli.
- smrz0
^ I also thought it was weird that Eli was able to watch the whole set up go down and just drive away with no problems. Gyp doesn't know him. but the cops do though. They were talking to him and Mickey earlier in the show. So yeah, that was kind odd. But all in all, great episode. Anyone else find it odd how Nucky has to make his murder victims comfortable before knocking them off? This is the second time this season that he has tricked his prey into a false sense of security before killing them.

^ Didn't Gyp meet Eli when he 1st got outa jail. i'll have to re-scan previous episodes. I think Nucky is having a mental conflict. He probably really wants to let them go but ultimately in order to preserve the business he knows he has to. There has to be something or he would have killed Gyp a long time ago. I can't wait to see if Gyp has some big italian family ties in NYC.
Its the forced emotions they create like the "say goodbye to gradpa" in sopranos. I never thought I'd cheer for Al. Everything is a surprise, nothing is expected. I like that. Nothing is what you expect. It seems like random characters reveal more then the main characters. They come they die. Should be interesting next week.

@ -sine: In the bone for tuna episode. Eli was loading the truck up and tells Gyp its loaded. The alcohol Nucky gave Gyp to fuck off with but he decided to stick around. Re watch bone for tuna.

Gyp is going to get it so bad. It's just all simmering and marinating right now for him to be the worst vic in this series so far. Will it be the half-face hitman? Nah, too obvious. Nucky? Probably not. He knows Gyp is dangerous and won't go near him anymore. It's not that personal to him. Eli? Maybe. To get back on Nucky's good side. What if he got offed by some random character that he was f-ing with. Like he picked the wrong dude on the wrong day. I think I'll go with that.
- I say put a bomb on Mickey Doyle's back and run him into Tabor Heightsteh

I thought Nucky would have used the kid in the basement but that didn't work out.
Is Owen IRA? I could see Nucky having Owen rig some trucks full of explosives then detonate them when Gyp and cops take them and have Eli over-see it.
I also didn't know the conversation Masseria had with the old
Italians really happened. That's what i like most about the show is the historical perspective this show gives.
- CygnusZero40
The show is based on things that happened but its definitely an exaggerated version of things. For example the real Enoch wasnt like this. Same with some of these details with guys like Luciano and Capone if you read about them.
Some things in history are so well known, it makes me wonder if they will actually happen on the show since that would make it predictable.
From wikipedia: "Gangland legend has it that Masseria dined with Charles "Lucky" Luciano before his death.[4] While they played cards, Luciano excused himself to the bathroom, when Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel, Vito Genovese, Albert Anastasia and Joe Adonis rushed in and shot Masseria to death"
So would they do this on the show? Its so predictable so I dont know. They might change it.

The real Nucky was known for bootlegging and all that, but all this stuff on the show with him being in bed with various gangsters isnt fully known, obviously he kept all of that a secret so the show just embelishes all of that just to make a more interesting show.
Some of its probably true, but we dont really know how involved he was with guys like Luciano like the show suggests.

Capone's son really was deaf and only died a few years ago
- Ah didnt know that, thanks. I figured thats not something they would just make up for the show.CygnusZero4
- Just never got around to looking into it.CygnusZero4
- interesting thanks!teh

- The guy that plays him on the show looks tougher than the real guy. lolCygnusZero4
- haah haah nice find!teh

I see people on facebook constantly bitching about Jimmy being gone. I dont even miss him. He was great for the first 2 seasons but his story ran its course, he made mistakes and paid for it.
I think great shows find a way to move on and they're introducing new characters so I dont even miss Jimmy at all. On FB its mostly the women that were smitten by him. >____>
- yup. with this time period life expectancy wasnt long.teh
- I miss him. I'm not a woman or smitten by him though, haha. >smrz
- < I feel like Nucky was tricked to easily by Eli into setting up Jimmy, that his death felt cheap to me. That's why I can't get over itsmrz
- His death was due to his quest for power. He was trying to overthrow Nucky.CygnusZero4
- He first said to nucky you cant be half a gangster, and that was ultimately was ended up killing him.CygnusZero4
- pretty much agreed, but I just didn't like the way it went down. thought Nucky actually looked weak in the processsmrz
- I believe that Jimmy's character wasn't on a 'Quest for Power'. I think the writers had him with a death wish after all that's happened to him.orrinward2
- happened to him.orrinward2

This is interesting...run down of which characters are real and who they are based on
- instrmntl0
They turned Jimmy into a shitty character in the 2nd season, with no room for development. Glad he's gone. I'm glad Nelson is still around. He's one of my favs.
- CygnusZero40
Nelson is a great character, but they havent even dealt with what he did last season that much after he went nuts. Still waiting for that.
- hes banging that opar and i think he will work for that irish guy in the flower shop.teh

When Lucky went to talk to the italian bosses about selling heroin in their territory the one guy was wearing a black arm band. Why?

@ smrz re: nucky killing jimmy. i don't think it's something he wanted to do, especially if you look at the dreams, etc. in recent episodes. jimmy was like a son to him, but he left nucky no option in terms of his business and 'appearance'.
i don't miss him either. they've progressed the story very well.
- ie. he can't have someone working for him running around doing as he pleasessine
- Jimmy wasnt working for him anymore. They parted ways well before that.CygnusZero4
- CygnusZero40
He didnt want to kill Jimmy, but it was a business move so it had to be done. Jimmy was trying to take over and Nucky wasnt about to just let it happen so he did the only thing he could do.
It seems like right now he has a pretty big issue with making sure the people around him know he's in charge. He keeps trying to prove to everyone he's the boss and is willing to kill anyone that opposes him so he's starting to become ruthless. This all goes back to that one line Jimmy said to him about not being half a gangster so I guess that stuck with him and is actually changing who he is.
And anyone find it odd that there is no mention of his REAL job, the county treasurer? They dont even talk about that on the show anymore. In fact if you just started watching this season I dont think you would even know that was his actual job.
- Yeah, that is something different about this season. Really the only thing they've shown >smrz
- that isn't criminal was the New Year's Eve party. And then the part where he was supposed to meet the bishop, but he didn't showsmrz
- It's been all about the racket so far. Much more than the previous seasons for sure.smrz
