Im just now trying to upgrade my mac pro to snow leopard but everytime I click install and start the process, the computer restarts after about 5 mins and ejects the disk. I had no problems when I upgraded my macbook pro.
Is it possible to create a disk image and upgrade using that?
... and if this topics been posted before I apologize.

"it doesnt say anywhere on the package that its for laptops."
but is the disk a 'retail' disk, specifically a snow leopard upgrade disk?

That's a mean cat.

Do you have bootcamp partition installed already? Make sure you set your startup disk proper in system prefs.

...and you should stay the hell away from trying to make an image to boot from, the standard dics should work, if they don't, something else is afoot.

who ever sold you the disk is the missing link.

Here's what you do:
Go to googlemaps and do a search for:
a) Gym Supplies
b) Nearest ApplestoreMake sure you visit both in that order (1st point a, then point b)
From point a, get a pair of comfortable boxing gloves.
Make sure you talk to one of the store clerks to see if he/ she can help you find the best fit for your hands. Then continue going to point b.
When you arrive at the store, a young fella will greet you at the store and ask you if he can be of any assistance.Tell them you need to see an "apple genius" he will try to make you came back next week cause the genius bar "is all booked up now", tell them you can wait, to put your name on the waiting list.
When they call your name, repeat the action from the photo below
Run as fast as you can!

Hey that happened to me too. I even bought a disk cleaner. WTF. I was thinking maybe it knew my machine and wouldn't let me upgrade on such an old model and it was a a dirty apple upgrade trick. Then I thought, naw, I'm being retarded. Now I see I'm right. Sucks for us.

Open the console log inside the installer and watch for any messages before it reboots

What RAM do you have installed?
I couldn't install Leopard on my old machine cos I had mismatched RAM: 2x Kensington, 2x Crucial. Had to pull the crucial to get it to install. I just quit the installer at something like 80% progress, no error message.
Not saying this is gonna solve your problem, Snow Leopard might not even react the same way but I seem to remember this being common-ish for Leopard...
