one of my eBay auctions ended without any bidders. then someone emailed me and asked if they could buy it. they sent paypal right then.
just curious, what can he do if I just dont send it?
can he file a claim with paypal if there's no auction record to go along with it?

Post it again with a "Buy It Now" feature.

Wasn't the goal to get money for your product? Well you got money, so send the product.

refund the money and tell him you'd prefer your transactions went through ebay/paypal and that you'll repost the auction w/ buy it now.
or don't and suffer the karma you've brought upon yourself.

You can't always trust paypal. If they are paying you with a hacked paypal account, they can retract the payment out of your account "After" you shipped the item you're selling. Then you'll be stuck with calling paypal, and they'll say you clicked on a user agreement check box meaning you're basically screwed.

What blogger said. Paypal basically puts you at the mercy of the buyer. Even if its a legit account there are plenty of stories of people issuing chargebacks on the credit card they used to pay.

Online auction frauds are one the top consumer complaints in America.

The paypal funds should be held in escrow until the other party signs and confirms shipment.
Watch out for password phisers outside of ebay. Sometimes they send an email regarding your item that looks identical to a legit ebay email. Then you click and enter your username and pass into their hack site.
Just be sure to do all transactions through the ebay interface, not your personal email.

Is the buyer in Nigeria? lol

if the transaction is still in the paypal account and not in your bank account then escrow still has it. thats what paypal/ebay is essentially, an escrow service. the buyer can report that he never received the product and the ebay/paypal will retract the payment. (although its not as simple as that)
and btw. its hilarious asking publicly how to screw people over.

He can find you and kick your ass if you don't send it. He can easily get your shipping and contact information, fly to where you are, wait by your house til you came out and knock your head off.
