Microsoft's Billion-Dollar Question

that interface is pretty slick...

It's nice-looking, but I'm not sure this interface is the best-suited for the kind of device. Looks more like something a Microsoft designer came up with rather than one that has been through many usability tests if you know what I mean.

that phone is huge

What the hell is taking them so long to release the damn thing. I'd like to use it and try the OS for myself (not that I'd switch from my iPhone) to see how intuitive it actually is.
Also, people go on about Jobs, but I'd rather listen to him than Ballmer any day of the week. Does he even know how to turn the fucking thing on? He's like the Dr. Phil of the tech world, always stating the obvious.
- I think it's a lot like a Zune, so if you like that over iPhone/Pod, then you might like itukit

I want to see it too. Looks good so far, but considering how the world can't seem to even copy Apple long after I remain skeptical.
I also wonder why the massive delay. The iPhone has been out for years, but let's hope that this just adds to the competition and we all win, one way or another.

The big advantage Microsoft has might be integration with their productivity software if they are able to make that work. Google is nipping at their heels though and is way ahead of them in mobile space.

I think part of the reason for the delay is that this time Microsoft aren't just releasing a mobile OS and then letting the manufacturers install it on whatever hardware they like. They're being far more strict with base hardware requirements, form factor etc, as they want the OS experience to be a lot more uniform across all manufacturers.
Integration is being driven in 2 different directions as well... those who want it as a business device, Exchange functionality etc etc, and those who want it as an extension to the Zune/Xbox platform, with support for a Motoblur-style social networking hub.
I wish they'd get a move on and just release a unit, but I can understand them wanting to get the recipe 'right' before releasing to the unwashed masses.

let's give them a big tap on the back for trying.
Ballmer is seriously not a good salesman.- hahaha, I wouldn't want to buy anything from Steve... http://www.youtube.c…BuddhaHat

According to that article,
89% of iPhone users plan to stay with their current choice of phone
71% of Android

Interface "looks" nice but for something designed for people to actually use instead of look at I think they have gone completely the wrong direction. No way would anyones parents be able to figure out you can swipe the headings to change the sub sections, double they would even know when you could scroll or not.
I know it's frustrating for designers but sometimes buttons should look like buttons.
Also localisation NIGHTMARE

Not a bad effort at all considering it's Microsoft, and I like the cross over interface of the Zune to phone.
