So as creative people, how important was album design to you when you chose your photographer?
Was it more about the style of the photography?I'm also really curious how many people went with a photographer they already knew on a personal level vs searching for one.

Unless weddings is what your friend does, I would search one out. There's so much more to it than just being able to focus a camera. They also need be to able to direct.
You do need someone with a cool personality. They're going to be there the entire day.
And buy the negatives.

Go with someone who still shoots with film.

we had a photographer, and we also put disposable cameras all over the place for guests to click away and collected them at the end of the wedding. we never look at the professional ones- but the disposable cameras pics are awesome.

Beyond a point (maybe $1000), how much you pay has little to do with how good the photographer is. Shop in all price ranges and choose the photographer who has the best pictures on his/her site.

Thanks y'all!
I am a wedding photographer, and am starting a business next year with a partner. We are thinking about making our albums the focus for our marketing (vs the photography)Stands to reason that designers/artists would be the easiest to sell fine art albums too. So we thought to target them at fist. Then we reasoned that a lot of them would already know a good photog and not go shopping for one.
