How did they ever get some many iconic people to have their face associated with a brand? Jim Henson with Kermit, John Lennon shortly after his death, Bob Dylan, Martin Luther King, Alfred Hitchcock all selling computers for you.

I can see how it worked for them though.
Good thing it wasn't those same faces with Golden Arches in the corner instead of the Apple logo.

Connect to your audience on an emotional level.
Look at the current 'face time' adverts and look at the advert featured at the end of the video - both use the same trick.
It's not about being true or honest or revolutionary - at the end of the day, Apple is just a company that's become extremely skilled at weaving stories around it's products, which affect it's customers on a very personal level.
